Life Is Calling

Walking on a cloud
Trying not to fall through
The world’s a whole lot bigger
Than I ever knew

See a smiley face
Never saw it before
Now there’s a new kind of feeling
Leaves me wanting more

Have we talked about it?
Have we lived without it?
Makes me want to shout it
Why do we keep hanging on
Hanging on to our lies?

Life is calling
Life is calling
Life is calling
What do I answer?
(Repeat)

It’s a scary place
When it’s all brand new
And the less you give up
The more you have to lose

So let’s dive into the dream
Let it wash us away
It’s the same old game, but
A different way to play

Have we talked about it?
Have we lived without it?
Makes me want to shout it
Why do we keep hanging on
Hanging on to our lies?

Life is calling
Life is calling
Life is calling
What do I answer?
(Repeat)

Have we talked about it?
Have we lived without it?
Makes me want to shout it
Why do we keep hanging on
Hanging on to our lies?

Life is calling
Life is calling
Life is calling
What do I answer?
(Repeat)

You give, you take
You love, you hate
You stay alive
For living’s sake
The chance is here
The way is clear
It whispers words
Into your ear
You give, you take
You love, you hate
You stay alive
For living’s sake
The chance is here
The way is clear
The way is clear

Side By Side

A day
Is a moment wrapped in time
When I’m yours and you are mine
N
ow
We are floating down the years
Sharing laughter, shedding tears

And I
Never saw it coming
Never knew that love was greater than
A child’s dream
And the
Longer we’re together
It’s a comfort that we’ll face the weather
Side by side

Love
Is a promise that we hold
A fire against the cold
Life
Is a hard and halting song
Better sung by two than one

And I
Never saw it coming
Never knew that love was greater than
A child’s dream
And the
Longer we’re together
It’s a comfort that we’ll face the weather
Side by side

When
We together start to fly
We no longer fear to try
Then
As ripples on a pond
Let our love flow out and on

And I
Never saw it coming
Never knew that love was greater than
A child’s dream
And the
Longer we’re together
It’s a comfort that we’ll face the weather
Side by side

We
Have our moments on this ride
And we still sit side by side
Side by side

Pariah

I sell insecurities
The only ones you’ll ever need
But voices are whispering
To follow in thought and deed

I don’t know what it signifies
But heads are beginning to rise
Mouths are dropped open
And eyes are growing wide

Dancing and singing a tune
Daring to dream I’m as good as you
Was I made in His image too?
Once I thought I knew

Words get louder now
Changing from whys to hows
Turning away so they
Don’t have to hear a sound

Where are they taking me?
Could they be setting me free?
Slow down for a minute
Please let me enjoy the breeze

Dancing and singing a tune
Daring to dream I’m as good as you
Was I made in His image too?
Once I thought I knew

Once I thought I knew
(Afraid of knowing where I belong)

Around the Block

I woke up this morning
With a bird flying through my head
And a feeling like time had flowed too fast
Walked around with feet on the ground
And the sunlight shining through me
And deep inside knowing my tears won’t last

I’d had a fever for ten long years
And remember my fever dreams
Where everything was twisted and turned away
When I woke in a pool of sweat
And stood on shaky legs
I knew that it was the start of a bright new day

Hello, beautiful stranger
I’m going nowhere, no
But I think you are
Goodbye, I wish I knew you
I’ve been around the block but I never
Got out of the car

If you flew back to your cloud
And I never saw you again
Then I could’ve caught myself a lifelong dream
But when you smiled and met my eye
And returned to your distant window
I let my feelings wash me down the stream

Hello, beautiful stranger
I’m going nowhere, no
But I think you are
Goodbye, I wish I knew you
I’ve been around the block but I never
Got out of the car

Hello, beautiful stranger
I’m going nowhere, no
But I think you are
Goodbye, I wish I knew you
I’ve been around the block but I never
Got out of the car

Morning Paper

Tonight I read the morning paper
To read the headlines of yesterday
And I felt sad as much as anyone
To find my feet had gone astray

Oh, no, to find you’re falling
And no one to catch you as you hit the ground
Oh, no, I can’t be going
I’ve got to make some good news come my way

I say my picture on page 5D
Under the heading “Lost and Found”
I hope somebody soon will claim me
I’m tired of all this hanging around

Oh, no, to find you’re falling
And no one to catch you as you hit the ground
Oh, no, I can’t be going
I’ve got to make some good news come my way

And now I just flipped on the TV
There I am, playing the fool again
No relief since I went in syndication
The quest for ratings never ends

Oh, no, to find you’re falling
And no one to catch you as you hit the ground
Oh, no, I can’t be going
I’ve got to make some good news come my way
Come my way
Come my way

Tonight I read the morning paper

Throughout Time

Heed my words
You don’t know what you’re doing
When you think you got nothing to learn
When you stick your hands in the fire
You’re going to get burned

Pharaoh thought he had it all worked out
When he slammed the door in Moses’ face
Twelve plagues later on the Red Sea shore
He was gone without a trace

Throughout time, always the same
You turn around and find that fate’s calling your name
Throughout time, in every place
Something comes along and wipes the smile from your face
Can’t you see it
Your life’s no more than a toss of the dice
You gotta see it
You’re taking chances but you don’t know the price

Look around
Too many people try to lay some kind of hoodoo down
They scoff but you know they’re buying a ticket
On a fast train underground
Why don’t you think, take a little care
See that you don’t go too far
Don’t be waiting on a crossroads at night
For somebody to tune your guitar

Throughout time, always the same
You turn around and find that fate’s calling your name
Throughout time, in every place
Something comes along and wipes the smile from your face
Can’t you see it
Your life’s no more than a toss of the dice
You gotta see it
You’re taking chances but you don’t know the price
