The Story Behind the Song: “Skies”

Written in mid-1998, though too late to be included on Machine Dream. It was inspired by a woman I had just started dating, and I ended up playing it for her not long after. I’m not sure if she realized it was about her. I enjoyed doing the little Beatlesque psychedelic freak-out at the end. When I was putting together the updated version of New Heart in 2022, I discovered that the CD on which the tracks were archived was partially unreadable, so I had to re-record the entire song from scratch.
