Written close to midnight on December 8, 2000, after watching back-to-back specials on the Beatles and John Lennon on VH1. Written in one sitting; I was tired and wanted to go to bed, but I knew I had to get the song out while the muse was guiding my hand. I was really proud of the recording and thought it was one of the best things I’d done to date.
This song has been played live quite a bit over the years–solo and with bands like Unfrozen Cavemen and Mother Zephyr. The 2023 video was recorded at my house; I was a little self-conscious because one of my neighbors kept watching me, probably wondering what that crazy lady was up to now.
